Français : Épeutnaert se traduit par épouvantails en picard, au mois d'avril Moringhem célébre le festival des Épeutnaerts, ce sont des épouvantails faits d'une armature de bois ou d'osier et recouverts de haillons de manière à ressembler à un être humain. Ils sont dressés dans un jardin ou dans un champ pour effrayer les oiseaux et les empêcher ainsi de dévorer les graines et les fruits.
English: Épeutnaert translates as "scarecrows in Picardy". In April Moringhem celebrates the Épeutnaerts festival. These effigies are scarecrows made with a frame of wood or wicker and covered with rags so as to resemble a human. Normally, scarecrows are erected in a garden or field to scare birds and prevent them from devouring seeds and fruits, but in these photographs they are not among crops or seeded ground, and are (perhaps temporarily) for entertainment.
