English: Mooltan was a full-rigged three-masted ship, built in 1880 by Richardson, Duck & Co., Stockton-on-Tees for the British & Eastern Shipping Co. - MacDonald J., Liverpool. In 1907 Bech Alexander & Co. of Norway bought her and renamed her Olav. In 1916 Henschiens Rederi A/S (Johs. A. Henschien) of Tvedestrand, Norway, bought her and renamed her Vestdal. On 24 April 1917, on voyage from Pensacola, Florida to Greenock, UK with a cargo of timber, was she sunk by gunfire by the German submarine U-70, 280 miles west of Ireland. 1 person was killed.
Her dimensions were: length × beam × depth = 251 × 39 × 24 ft (76.5 × 11.8 × 7.3 m). Her tonnages were 1,725 GRT and 1,668 NRT.[1][2]
