Church of St. John the Baptist, Aldbury, Hertfordshire. Monument (in the Pendley Chapel) of Sir Robert Whittingham (d.1471), of Pendley, Hertfordshire, (killed at the battle of Tewkesbury) and his wife Katherine Gatewyne. He was the eldest son and heir son of Robert Whittingham (d.1452), of London and Pendley, MP for City of London (1416) and for Hertfordshire (1432) by his wife Agnes Buckland (d.1456), daughter of Richard Buckland (d.1436), MP, of London and Edgecote, Northamptonshire (History of Parliament biography[1]). The monument was originally at Ashridge, but after the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the College of the Bonhommes at Ashridge was dissolved and in 1575 the monument was moved to nearby Aldbury.
