The Costume of Mireille, also known as "in tie", is the ordinary, simple feminine dress of the Pays d'Arles. Formerly it was worn daily by women in everyday life, but today it is worn by young girls until their fifteenth birthday, when they can "take the ribbon", i.e. put on the Arlesian woman costume, in ribbon or braid, for holidays or ceremonies. This costume of Mireille or in tie consists for the hairstyle of a white little bonnet held by a tie in cotton fabric or percale edged with lace, tied in "cornettes" on the front of the head ; a sober eso in black fabric with a rounded neckline on the chest and very low cut in the back ; a round or shaped skirt, which can be gathered, always protected by an apron.
