Miller Pretzels opened in 1922 at 752-754 Tilghman Street, just east of Eighth Street. Miller's Pretzels started as a small family business, which developed into a large company with multi million dollar sales over the Mid-Atlantic States.

Founded by Earle H Miller, for decades Miller's sold primarily hard-baked pretzels, hand made in its factory. Miller also made short, mini pretzel rods. The pretzels were sold in grocery stores, supermarkets and also by route salesman, from cellophane bags to large tins. Besides Eastern PA, Miller's Pretzels were sold in New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. Miller passed suddenly of a heart attack in May, 1946, but the company continued in business under his wife, Cora.

Cora Miller sold the business in 1958, with ownership being taken over by David and Dorothy Kircoaf., the daughter of Earle and Cora Miller. The Kircoaf's ran the firm for the next 20 years, retiring in November 1978. With their retirement, the company was put up for sale, but no buyers were found. Miller's Pretzels closed in April, 1979 after 56 years at its same location. The factory today is vacant, long abandoned.
