Mettupalayam (Tamil: மேட்டுப்பாளையம்) is a taluk of Coimbatore Rural district, located northern part of the city Coimbatore on the way to Ooty. It is located in the foot hills of the Nilgiri hills which is about 38 km north of downtown Coimbatore, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Mettupalayam is the railway junction for the Nilgiri Mountain Railways (NMR), and provides the interchange for passengers of this subline to the broad gauge railway.
