The First Church of Christ, Scientist Building was constructed in 1933, and designed by Charles Towle. The building was put up for sale in the late 1990s, and eventually restored and reopneed by the China & New Zealand Cultural Arts Association in 2015 as the Metropolis Museum, an events centre run by the New Zealand Wanfang Group (紐西蘭萬方集團). Since 2019 no events have been held at the location.
