English: Matthew Maty (1718–1776), originally Matthieu Maty, was a Dutch physician and writer of Huguenot background, and after migration to England secretary of the Royal Society and the second principal librarian of the British Museum.

Londini ab anno 1741 officium medici implevit; eodem tempore fuit editor libellorum litterariorum Hagae annis 1750-1755 sub titulo Journal britannique divulgatorum. Ab anno 1751 fuit socius Regalis Societatis Londiniensis, cuius societatis fuit secretarius principalis ab anno 1765. Bibliothecarius principalis Musei Britannici meruit ab anno 1772 usque ad 1776.
