English: The former Marienstift (i.e. about Mary's Donation/Foundation), first children's hospital of the Holy Land, established by the donation of Grand Duke Frederick Francis II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1823–1883) and named in honour of the monarch's third wife Princess Mary of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt (1850–1922). Leading physician was the pediatrist Dr. Max Sandreczky (1840–1899). After the monarch's death the hospital lost much of its financial support, but Sandreczky made good for many financial shortcomings. In 1901 the hospital became the pediatric department of the German deaconesses hospital (Diakonissenkrankenhaus) on haNevi'im Street. In 1914 the hospital was closed and never reopened.
