Mandolin-banjo, a hybrid of the banjo with the strings and scale length of the mandolin. It enables mandolin player to produce a banjo's sound and volume in mandolin orchestras and banjo bands in late 19th–early 20th century, without learning banjo.

  • “manjo” is also a popular nickname for the mandoline-banjo in Ireland.
  • “banjoline” is a French name of mandoline-banjo, but should not be confused with the Banjoline designed by Peabody.
