A collection belonging to a Scottish aristocrat, Lord James Broun-Ramsay, 1st Marquess of Dalhousie, who served as Governor General of India from 1848 to 1856 and after his retirement moved to Malta where he lived for a time. The Marquess eventually left Malta and headed back to Scotland where he died in 1860.
