English: On July 15, 1938, the Hungarian American Oil Industry Company (MAORT) was founded, based in Budapest. 90% of the company's share capital is financed by the American Standard Oil Company. First oil wells built in Bükkszék and in Zala County, Budafapuszta. Later discovered new oil fields and began to extract in Zala County at Lovászi, Lendvaújfalu and Lispe settlements. 840,000 tons oil extract by MAORT in 1943. The Company was nationalized on January 1, 1950. Now a American workers' neighborhood can be see in Nagykanizsa, originally called 'Camp MAORT' Hungarians called 'Kemp MAORT', now its a listed area named MAORT-telep
Magyar: 1938. július 15-én megalakult a Magyar Amerikai Olajipari Részvénytársaság (MAORT), Budapest székhellyel. A társaság alaptőkéjének a 90 %-át az amerikai Standard Oil Company adta.[1]
