English: Mill Tower: (German: Mühlenturm) The East German border troops used the Mill Tower as an observation and command centre from 1973 on. The tower was originally part of a water mill, which was in operation up to 1970. The tower and the mill were built around 1930. When the border crossing point was built and opened in 1973, the mill's residential building, stables and barn were demolished. You can still see traces of the residential building's gables on the side of the Mill Tower facing the road. (Borderlandmuseum Eichsfeld)
