English: The village is named after Scottish-born David Ireland Low, a 19th century gold prospector. The Barberton-Kaapmuiden railway line of 1895, and the consequent station placed the agricultural community on a main route. The Dreyer (later Low’s Creek) Hotel was situated here, but with the closure of the railway line, it ceased to be a centre of note.[1]
