English: The Liverpool City Council Animal Shelter is a no-kill animal shelter currently located at Rossmore Vet on Bringelly Road in Rossmore, New South Wales. Liverpool City Council took over the shelter in December 1996 from the Renbury Farm Animal Shelter in Austral and leased the site from the owner for two years. The Renbury Farm facility was a controversial decision for council at the time as there had been allegations of animal neglect (Ngo, 2016) and a change.org petition calling for an audit of the facility had attracted over 9 thousand signatures. (Barone, 2016) The lease was later extended till July 2020, however after it expired Rossmore Vets became the shelter home. A proposal to place the shelter at Rossmore Grange was then put to council by Councillor Peter Harle and reviewed by the Liverpool Local Planning Panel who recommended that it did not meet site or merit requirements and thus not proceed, however under the urging of Peter Harle (Harle, 2023), Council decided to refer the proposal to the Department for a Gateway Determination. (Department of Planning, Industry & Environment, 2021) As of 2024 the shelter remains at Rossmore Vet Hospital.
