The Lentz Brothers Restaurant was opened in 1923 by Joseph, Fred and Harold Lentz. The Lentz Brothers had been in business previously at 1143 Hamilton Street in the grocery business. Their father, Joseph S Lentz had been in the green grocery, fish and oyster market business at the southeast corner of North Seventh and Linden streets which was begun by their grandfather, Stephen Lentz in the 1860s. The three brothers took over their father's business upon his retirement in 1923 which was by then a candy store and fish market, and turned it into a restaurant. Their father, Joseph S. Lentz passed in November, 1929.

In 1923, the lentz's sold the store and opened the restaurant at the southeast corner of North Seventh and Linden streets. In 1933, with the repeal of prohibition, it was expanded into a bar and nightclub; "The Rathskeller" was opened in 1934, which was a basement nightclub which provided music and dancing. The restraint itself ws remodeled extensively in 1940 and called the "Silver Mirror". The location was commonly known as "Lentz's Corner".

The restaurant remained open during World War II, despite government rationing. Fred Lentz did join the American Red Cross in 1943 and was sent to Naples, Italy. There he became director of Military Clubs and later was named head of the American Red Cross facilities in Naples. He returned to Allentown in 1945. The brothers retired from the business in May 1948.

The building was later known as the Linden Hotel and other names before being torn down in 2015 along with other buildings in the area for the new NIZ Strata (West) Apartment Complex. Joseph Lentz passed in November, 1953. Fredrick Lentz passed in November 1970, Harold S in May 1971.
