Only five surviving pure landscapes are generally accepted to have been painted by Albrecht Altdorfer.
These are considered to be the first independent landscape paintings in the history of European art.
1 is in Berlin (Kupferstichkabinett), 1 in Munich (Alte Pinakothek), 1 in Erlangen (University library), 1 in London (National Gallery), and 1 in Rotterdam (Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen).
One further work, attributed to Altdorfer, is in the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum.
