The Lakulisa temple on Pavagadh hill is dedicated to Lakulisa of the Shaivism Hindu tradition. The temple has been variously dated to 10th or 11th-century, though a few scholars suggest late 9th-century. The temple sits on a platform inside a pit – which tends to fill up with water and draw silt from the mountain. Its shikhara is missing. The temple was desecrated and badly damaged just like the Jain temples nearby. Nevertheless, the Hindu artwork remaining on the outer walls is of high quality and notable. This includes Shiva, Vishnu, Durga, Surya, Vedic deities, Ganesha and scenes from epics such as the Ramayana.
