The Lakefront neighborhoods of New Orleans are a predominently residential area between Lake Pontchartrain and Robert E. Lee Boulevard/Leon C. Simon was built on fill land reclaimed from the lake in the 20th century, stretching from the Jefferson Parish line to the Industrial Canal. This includes the "Lakeshore", "Lake Vista", "Lake Terrace" and "Lake Oaks" neighborhoods and developments, and a strip mall at Robert E. Lee and West End. It also includes the University of New Orleans campus. Historically the area included old Milneburg, Spanish Fort, and Pontchartrain Beach.
