- Čeština: Kurt Taub (* 1. srpna 1911 Brno – ????) pocházel z brněnské rodiny německých Židů. V roce 1925 byl jeho otec Siegfried Taub – ředitel okresní nemocenské pojišťovny – zvolen do poslanecké sněmovny za německou sociální demokracii. V roce 1925 se rodina přestěhovala do Prahy. Po studiu na reálném gymnáziu pracoval Kurt Taub v pražské kanceláři mezinárodního zasilatelství Schenker. Otec Siegfried Taub ve 30. letech 20. století pomáhal uprchlíkům z hitlerovského Německa, proto později společně s rodinou utekl do Švédska. Ve Švédsku se Kurt oženil s Betty Wiessnerovou (původem z Brna). V roce 1941 odjel Kurt Taub společně s manželkou a otcem Siegfiedem do Spojených států amerických. V Bostonu v USA začal pracovat v čalounické dílně a v roce 1943 se přihlásil do armády, kde ho nejprve přidělili k dělostřelectvu, ale znalost cizích jazyků jej přivedla do armádního Kontrašpionážního sboru CIC (Counter Intelligence Corps). Po třech měsících byl poslán do Velké Británie, kde pracoval v Úřadu strategických služeb (Office of Strategic Services, zkratka: OSS) v české sekci Charlese Kateka ve Velké Británii. Do Prahy přijel Kurt Taub 8. května 1945 večer v americké uniformě seržanta a v letech 1945 až 1948 se plukovník Katek a seržant Taub stali nejvýznamnějšími představiteli vojenské mise v Praze na Loretánském náměstí číslo 2. Dne 25. února 1948 byli požádáni, aby opustili Prahu, což učinili 18. března 1948. Taub nastoupil u americké zpravodajské služby. Změnil si jméno na Kurt L. Taylor' (někdy používal jméno Frank Taylor) a začal operovat z bavorského Řezna (Regensburgu), kde sídlilo jeho oddělení, které se oficiálně jmenovalo Oddělení ekonomického výzkumu (Economic Research Unit; zkratka: ERU), ve skutečnosti se však zabývalo zpravodajskou činností. Kurt Taub organizoval nábor mladých mužů v uprchlických táborech a posílal je (coby zpravodajské agenty – chodce) za železnou oponu, kde měli provádět výzvědné aktivity namířené proti komunistickému Československu. Tato činnost byla oficiálně ukončena kolem roku 1953.

In 1925, his father Siegfried Taub - director of the district health insurance company - was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the German Social Democrats. In 1925 the family moved to Prague. After studying at the Real Gymnasium, Kurt Taub worked in the Prague office of the international freight forwarder Schenker. His father Siegfried Taub helped refugees from Hitler's Germany in the 1930s, so he later fled to Sweden with his family. In Sweden, Kurt married Betty Wiessner (originally from Brno). In 1941, Kurt Taub left for the United States with his wife and father Siegfied. In Boston, USA, he began working in an upholstery shop and in 1943 he enlisted in the army, where he was first assigned to the artillery, but his knowledge of foreign languages led him to join the army's Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC). After three months he was sent to the UK where he worked in the Office of Strategic Services' (OSS) in Charles Kateka's Czech section in the UK. Kurt Taub arrived in Prague on the evening of May 8, 1945, wearing an American sergeant's uniform, and between 1945 and 1948, Colonel Katek and Sergeant Taub became the most prominent representatives of the US military mission in Prague at Loretánské náměstí 2. On February 25, 1948, they were asked to leave Prague, which they did on March 18, 1948. Taub joined the U.S. Intelligence Service. He changed his name to Kurt L. Taylor (he sometimes used the name Frank Taylor) and began operating from Regensburg, Bavaria, where his department, officially called the Economic Research Unit (ERU for short), was based, but in reality it was engaged in intelligence work. Kurt Taub organised the recruitment of young men in refugee camps and sent them (as intelligence agents - walkers) behind the Iron Curtain to carry out intelligence activities against communist Czechoslovakia. This activity was officially terminated around 1953.
