Kuhns Motel opened in the late 1920s in far west Allentown, with several small tourist cabins for motorists to stop at on the old U.S. 22 highway. It stayed like this until after World War II, when in 1948 it was rebuilt as "Kuhn's Tourist Court" by Willis B. Kuhns. It was renamed Kuhns Motel about 1953. It was eventually given an address of 5650 West Tilghman Street. Willis B. Kuhns retired in 1954 and his son, Willis B Kuhns took over ownership.

The motel served travelers for many decades, eventually going out of business about 1997 when Kuhns retired. After several years, the property was torn down and became a Best Western motel. It is now a Holiday Inn.

Willis B Kuhns passed in Dec 1989, Willis E Kuhns in Apr 2018.
