Crown Prince chess is played on a 12 x 9 board (A-L, 1-9) with 24 pieces each. It was conceived in December / January 2020 / 2021 by Edwin Pleyer, inspired by historical studies (middle Ages, esp. Hundred Years' War) and the chess variants on a 10 x 8 board. It is also called Pleyer's chess.
