English: "Kronion thermae" is an English phrase concocted from the ancient Greek neuter nominative kronion, used as an English adjective, and the Latin nominative plural thermae, "baths." The name comes from the northern location of the baths between the gymnasion and Κρόνιος Λόφος, "Kronian hill." The Hellenic Ministry uses "north baths" for the English. They are famed for their floor mosaics, which are kept covered for protection except on display. One has been restored and another is in the museum. The building began as Greek and was remodelled several times into Roman.
