English: The Franciscan Friary in Kildare (commonly called Grey Friary or Grey Abbey after the habit of the Conventual Franciscan friars) was founded in c. 1254 with the support by Gerald Fitz Maurice and later by William de Vescy, became Observant in 1520, was suppressed and burnt in 1539, re-established in 1621, and ended c. 1700.
