العربية: الخارجة هي عاصمة ( محافظة الوادى الجديد) . تبعد عن مدينة اسيوط مسافة 230 كم في اتجاه الصحراء الغربية ، وهي من المدن الهادئة الجميلة نظرا لقلة عدد السكان بها ومناخها صحراوي وهي أكبر مدينة بالمحافظة.

Deutsch: Die Senke al-Charga (, auch el-Kharga) ist die südöstlichste und zugleich größte der fünf bewohnten westägyptischen Senken.

Sie befindet sich in der Libyschen Wüste im Bereich von 26° 00' N bis 24° 30' N (Nord – Süd) bzw. 30° 25' O bis 30° 50' O (West – Ost) und erstreckt sich über eine Länge von 200 km in Nord-Süd-Richtung. Die Bevölkerung zur Volkszählung 1996 betrug 49.461, auf einer Fläche von rund 1500 km².

English: El-Kharga Oasis', also known as Al-Kharijah, meaning the outer oasis ( Arabic الخارجة) - is the southernmost of Egypt's five western oases that are located in the Libyan Desert, about 200 km to the west of the Nile valley.

Kharga Oasis is in - and is the capital of - the New Valley Governorate.
The oasis, which was known as the 'Southern Oasis' to the Ancient Egyptians, is the largest of the oases in the Libyan Desert portion within Egypt and is in a geologic depression about 160km long and from 20km to 80km wide.
