Notes
[edit]Before 2015, Wikipedians had collected flower images by Kawahara from books and exhibitions. In 2015, Naturalis donated 892 images by Kawahara in a Wikipedian-in-residence project. On most of these artworks the Japanese common species name is indicated in Katakana script. Many, but not all, species names in the donation were checked against on-line databases such as Gbif, Fishbase, Catalogue of fishes and Catalogue of Life, but still some uncertainties as to the actually accepted species names remain. Kawahara also drew and painted species that are still unidentified here ("indets"). These are highlighted in the Category:Uncertain species in the Kawahara Collection at Naturalis Biodiversity Center.
- The List of species and genera in Category:Kawahara Collection at Naturalis Biodiversity Center gives an overview and helps to weed out wrong identifications. The List of catalogue numbers of the museum images in Category:Kawahara Collection at Naturalis Biodiversity Center does what it says.
- The subcategory Category:Uncertain species in the Kawahara Collection at Naturalis Biodiversity Center singles out unresolved cases, which also should be included in the present higher category, to keep an overview of all Kawahara images here for management purposes.
- Your help is gratefully sollicited in solving remaining errors and uncertainties!
