English: Kapunda was a steel-hulled steamship built by W Gray & Co, West Hartlepool for the Melbourne Steam Ship Company, Melbourne. Dimensions: 330.3' x 45.1' x 21.3'. Tonnages: 3,097 GRT and 1,970 NRT. Engine: Triple expansion engine rated at 497 nhp. As a limited capacity passenger-cargo ship, she ran Sydney, Melbourne and several of the smaller ports to Fremantle. She was sold to Moss Steamship Co. Ltd. of Liverpool in 1915 and sunk by torpedo 205 miles ESE of Malta by a German U-boat on November 12, 1916.[1][2][3]
