Junior Colony was a women's clothing store that sold exclusively junior sizes to teen girls. The store opened in August 1957 at 915 Hamilton Street in Allentown. During the 1970s and 1980s, the store expanded at first to several malls in the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton area, then primarily becoming a mall store, expanding to 114 stores by the beginning on 1991 with stores located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Florida, Missouri and Tennessee. The business also began establishing additional brands of stores with clothing for non-teenagers such as Fashion Colony, Petite Stop, Amy Stoudt, Plumms, the Clothes Out and Capers

The company began running into financial trouble in the early 1990s, filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in September 1991. The decline was blamed on its rapid expansion and competition with other women's closing stores in the new areas it had expanded into. The business was forced to close stores and restructuring its finances and emerging from Chapter 11 in 1992. However, the chain continued to be in financial trouble and closed its doors for the last time in September 1994. Many of the remaining stores were sold off and reopened under other names
