Built in 1856, this Italianate-style house at 114 West Gilman Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was constructed for Julius and Catherine White, and was later home to Joseph W. Hobbins. The house was modified circa 1885 with the addition of the present front porch, vestibule, and a rear service ell with a mansard roof. The house features a sandstone exterior, low-slope hipped roof with a cornice featuring dentils and paired brackets, windows with stone headers and sills, replacement one-over-one windows, a front door with a decorative surround featuring pilasters and a cornice, a front porch with square columns, a low-slope roof, cornice with dentils, and an enclosed sun porch with casement windows at the end, a series of various rear wing additions, and a concrete covered base.

The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
