English: Joseph Richardson Sr. (December 4, 1752 - March 11, 1831) was the greatest among many great silversmiths coming from a multi-generational silversmithing dynasty. His father, Francis Richardson II (November 25, 1684 - August 17, 1729) was born in New York City and moved to Philadelphia with his mother and stepfather becoming a silversmith and goldsmith. Joseph Richardson, Sr. also worked both as a goldsmith and a silversmith. Two of his sons, Joseph Richardson, Jr. and Nathaniel Richardson also became silversmiths (The Winterthur Library).
