The son of horn-maker Joseph Raoux (circa 1727 - before 1800), Lucien-Joseph left his own workshop in 1776 to join his father's business, which operated out of premises in rue Froidmanteau (Place du Louvre). In 1794 the company moved to 8 rue Serpente, where they remained until the firm was sold in 1857. ",
