Built in 1895, this Queen Anne-style house at 304 North Carroll Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was constructed for John Grinde (see the Property Record online).
The house features a hipped roof with a side gable facing Johnson Street, a cylindrical corner tower with a conical roof and oxeye panel facing the street corner, a front gabled dormer with a Palladian window, one-over-one double-hung windows, a clapboard-clad exterior, a front porch with a shed roof and Doric columns, wooden shingle cladding on the gables, dormers, and top level of the tower, a second-story balcony on the side facade, and a rusticated stone base.
The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
