History: This house, built in 1903, was owned by the Janes sisters and operated as The Misses Janes School from 1911, attracting the children of Hollywood's elite. Situated at 6541 Hollywood Boulevard, the house remained a private residence as the rest of the Boulevard was developed into businesses, ultimately becoming the last private home East of La Brea Avenue on the Boulevard until the last of the Janes sisters, Carrie Belle, died in 1982. In 1985, the house was moved to the back of the lot, while the front was developed as Janes Square, a combination mini-mall and tourist attraction.[1]
