English: James Victor Salmon (1911-1958) was a designer for Toronto Hydro, an amateur photographer, a collector of historic photos, and the author of a history rail travel in Toronto. He is a co-author of Etobicoke in Pictures and Rails from the Junction. His extensive collection of 13,000 photographs was acquired by the Toronto Public Library, which subsequently transferred thousands of images to the City of Toronto Archives, when they determined they were rediscovered copies of lost official city photographs. Many of the images in the collection are of public works, or are related to transportation.
