This Greek Revival-style house located at 114 West Gorham Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was built in 1853 for the homeopathic doctor J. B. Bowen and his wife, Susan T. Bowen. The house was later renovated in 1895 by Mary and George Gernon, and again in 1934 (see the Property Record online).
The house is clad in painted brick with a front and side gable roof, stone lintels and sills, replacement one-over-one windows, a front porch added circa 1895 with decorative columns and trim, a bonnet roof, and an open pier foundation, a side ell with a simpler porch and side entrance, and another side ell with a large bay window on the first floor.
The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
