The flagship store was at the J. L. Hudson Building — covering a block on Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit. It stood from 1923 until demolished in 1988.
Founded by Joseph Lowthian Hudson in 1881, who also financed the founding of Hudson Motor Car Company in 1909.
