Category:J. H. Bertrand Building
Built in 1930, this Renaissance Revival and Art Deco-style building located at 320 State Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was designed by Balch and Lippert for Doctor J. H. Bertrand. The building is clad in stone with a decorative parapet with an arched gable parapet, fluted pilasters with doric capitals, a cartouche and acroterion at the top of the gabled parapet, quoins flanking the pilasters, arched windows on the second floor, and three first-floor retail shopfronts with replacement storefronts and stone base cladding.
The building is one of many commercial and mixed-use buildings that contribute to the vibrant State Street corridor that runs between the University of Wisconsin - Madison campus and Capitol Square.
