The J.B. Van Sciver Furniture Co. was a furniture company, founded by Joseph Bishop Van Sciver and later run by his sons, Joseph Bishop Van Sciver Jr., Lloyd Van Sciver, and Russell Van Sciver. The company was formed in Camden, New Jersey in 1881 and opened an Allentown store at 1002-1008 Hamilton Street in 1937. For decades, the company sold its own manufactured furniture. In the 1970s, sales began to decline as the market for its high end furnature became more competitive as well as being affected by lower-costing imported furniture.

In March 1981 the Van Sciver store was sold to the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company, and it was announced the company would be relocating. The Allentown Store at 10th and Hamilton closed in March 1982 and the company relocated to a suburban location at MacAruthur Road & Shadt Avenue near the Whitehall Mall. In January 1983, the company filed for bankruptcy and went into reorganization. In April 1984 J B Van Sciver went out of business at it's Whitehall Location, as the company liquidated its assets.

The firm went out of business at its last location in Cherry Hill, NJ in 1985. Today the building on Hamilton Street is used by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
