Français : Égypte, Syrie, fin du 14e - début du 16e siècle : La révolution de la céramique murale. Le cartel indique : Dans l'edspace mamuk se produit une innovation fondamentale : la simplification de la trame géométrique créée par les carreaux. Après de siècles (11°-14° siècle) où sur les murs alternent croix et étoiles à 8 pointes, une première simplification, à la fin du 14° siècle, pase par le choix de l'octogone. Au 15° siècle, le carré,permet d'allèger encore la trame visuelle du mur ; ceci sera poussé à son extrême logique par les ottomans, le décor se déployant d'un acrré sur l'autre.
English: Mamluk Egypt and Syria - end of 14th- beginning of 16th century -The revolution of Mamluk ceramics. Copy of the cartel : Fundamental innovation was afoot in Mamluk spheres to simplify geometric patterns created by tiles. After many centuries (11th-14th) of wall panels alternating crosses and eight-pointed stars, one the first forms simplification, in the late 14tth century, was the octogon. In the 15th century, squares made for a lighter visual effect: the Ottomans took this to its logical extreme with design stretching from one tile to the next.
