English: Isaac Luria (Yitzhak ben Solomon Luria Ashkenazi) 1534–1572, Safed in Ottoman Palestine. The father of Modern Jewish Kabbalah - "Lurianic Kabbalah." Known as the ARI (Lion), Arizal, Ari-Hakadosh, Ha-Ari. His disciples wrote down Luria's teachings, called metaphorically Kitvei HaARI "writings of the Ari", primarily Haim Vital.
