The I X L Tire & Supply Company was an early car and truck supply company. Founded in April 1913 by Tilghman A. Freed, it supplied tires, batteries and other parts to motorists.

The company was first located in the basement of 44 North Sixth Street (SW corner of 6th and Linden), but shortly due to growth, it took over the entire building. In 1915, it also added gasoline sales at the rear of the building, and in 1921 moved again to a larger building at 42 North Sixth, which expanded its space considerably. In December 1922, it again moved to its own custom-built building, located at 31-37 North Fourth Street in Allentown. I X L closed in the summer of 1943, as much tire and other parts production for automobiles had been halted during World War II. The I X L building was redeveloped into an apartment building, owned by Freed. After his death, the property was torn down as part of the Fourth Street redevelopment project in the Ninth Ward.

Tilghman Freed first ran for public office in 1935, and entered politics in 1939, elected as the Pennsylvania State Representative for Lehigh County. He later becoming a State Senator, retiring from politics in 1954. Freed then entered the real estate business after leaving politics. He passed in April 1962 at age 66 in Allentown.
