History
[edit]- 1927 Named: SØRLANDET for Sørlandets Seilende Skoleskibs Institution
- 1940-1945 Served as an accommodation vessel for German submariners
- 1948 Restored and ready to sail
- 1958 Equipped with engine and propeller.
- 1974 Sold to Staubo. Laid up at Kilsund at anchor, deteriorating considerably
- 1977 Sold to Kristiansand by Skjelbred.
- 1980 to 1983, the SØRLANDET was the only operative Norwegian training ship, and at that time the open cruises for both sexes, all ages and nationalities, started.
- 1981 Sold to the non-profit foundation "Stiftelsen Fullriggeren Sørlandet" Crossed the Atlantic four times, in addition she was engages in a film shoot in New York and performed several cruises between Bermuda and Boston.
- 1982 Sørlandet hosted the exhibition "Women of the coast" whilst visiting some 60 seaside places along the Norwegian coast all the way up north to Kirkenes. A total of 83.000 people visited Sørlandet during this tour.
- 1986 Crossed the Atlantic to take part in the 100th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
