English: Hugh Cameron (1826-1908), a Kansas farmer, free-soiler, and Civil War veteran, who held the brevet rank of brigadier-general of volunteers (Roger D. Hunt, Jack Brown. "Brevet brigadier generals in blue," 1990, p.96.). He lived eccentrically in his later years and became known as the "Lawrence Hermit," or the "Kansas Hermit". Buried at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., Section 3.
