In its place at the beginning of the 19th century, the post office building stood at the meeting point of the post roads. In 1912-13, a consortium led by wine wholesaler Lajos Zerkowitz built the Centre (Central) Hotel, café, restaurant and tenement palace on the site of the tenements later erected here, based on the plans of Lajos Gyenes Jr. and Andor Vajda, architects from Budapest./The memorial plaque was erected in 2003: Kanizsa Central Ltd" - 23 Erzsébet Square, Nagykanizsa, Zala County, Hungary.
