'Alaeddin Adlernest' is the pseudonym of Austrian bassoonist Horst Brückl (fag, bcl). Born and named during critical NAZI period of Austrian history, his Christian name 'Horst', seemed 'somewhat unpleasant' to the young man in 1960ies. He therefore translated it into sheer German: "Adlernest" (Eagle's nest) is an up to that time unused equivalent to "Horst". Moreover, seemingly oriental "Alaeddin" suggests that this man feels himself to be far beyond any narrowminded nationalist and xenophobic thinking and feeling which was common at the time of his birth.

Bassoonist Brückl was a member of the orchestra of the Graz opera, but also appeared (and still appears) in Austrian Free Jazz groups, like The Masters of Unorthodox Jazz, reformARTunit or Three Motions.
