The complex was built by Üveys Paşa (in full Üveys Paşa (Hoca Paşa) Aydın Güzelhisarlı). He died in 1590 and is buried opposite the mosque built by him in the cemetery that is there. In the cemetery one finds also a mausoleum for Osman Ağa, who was the chief taster of Suleiman the Magnificent.
