Hill Street is part of the original New Town of Edinburgh. It runs parallel to and between George Street and Queen Street. The site of the street was used by a mason called James Hill to built the street, financed by Robert Belshes of Greenyards. It contains some A listed buildings which are some of the remaining examples of original houses built in the original New Town about 1800.
