Hexadecyl compounds are chemical compounds formally derived from hexadecane, C16H34, by replacement of one of the three hydrogen atoms on the terminal carbon (i.e. carbon #1) with other atoms or functional groups. Hexadecyl compounds contain the hexadecyl group, C16H33, and have the general formula C16H33X, where X is any chemical element or group.
