- reorganised by Allan Herschell and Edward Spillman, still producing merry-go-rounds. Their subsidiary Herschell Spillman Motor Company built internal combustion engines from 1902-1923 for automobiles, trucks, and marine applications, and a few automobiles in 1901, 1904-1905, and 1907. Allan Herschell left in 1913, and founded in 1915 his own enterprise, the en:Allan Herschell Company. From then, both manufacturers of merry-go-rounds harshly competed, prompting many innovations in carousels, and soon leading to a reorganisation of the elder company in the style of
