1908 postcard photo of Hermit Basin
English: The Hermit Basin is the extreme south watershed canyon of Hermit Canyon. The terminus of Hermit Basin occurs at its north end, where the Hermit Trail crosses.
  • The north end of Hermit Basin is also the start of the Waldron Trail that goes up-canyon (south)-(after switchbacks, to Horsethief Tank, on the South Rim). The north end of Hermit Basin is also the start of Dripping Springs Trail which goes west to the southwest region of Upper Hermit Canyon.
  • On the Historic Photos of Hermit Canyon, the term “Hermit Basin” appears mostly to refer to Hermit Canyon itself. The postcard photo’s of Hermit Basin, show the dramatic steepness & narrowness of the Hermit Basin.
